The Dallas Stars endured a difficult stretch from their final game before the holiday break through mid-January, posting a 2-6-4 record over a grueling 12-game span. That skid now appears to be in the rearview mirror. Dallas has won four of its last five games and is beginning to resemble the team that entered the season with high expectations.
Despite the downturn, the Stars sit just one point behind the Minnesota Wild for second place in the Central Division. The Colorado Avalanche remain firmly in control of the top spot with an eight-point lead, but securing home-ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs would still be a meaningful goal for Dallas.
The biggest sign of the Stars’ resurgence has been their offense, which has produced 20 goals over the last six games. What has stood out most is the balance across the lineup, with three different lines contributing consistently. Wyatt Johnston has been a driving force on the top line, recording four goals and two assists for six points during the stretch.

The second line has been even more productive with winger Jason Robertson continuing his strong season with three goals and four assists for seven points, leading all Stars skaters over the past six games. Veteran forward Matt Duchene has also rediscovered his scoring touch after returning from a prolonged concussion absence. Last season’s leading scorer for Dallas has netted five goals over the same span, though he has yet to record an assist.
Defensively, the Stars are beginning to stabilize as well. Goaltender Jake Oettinger, who struggled earlier in the season, has found his rhythm and has now won four consecutive starts.
