The Connor Hellebuyck from the first round series against the St. Louis Blues seems well in the rear view mirror as the Winnipeg Jets goalie shut out the Dallas Stars 4-0 Friday night to even the series 1-1.

While Dallas did not have their best game offensively, Hellebuyck stopped several high-danger scoring chances in the second period that could have changed the course of the game.

That, coupled with two early goals, gave the Jets an easy start-to-finish win in Game 2.

Tyler Seguin took a very early double minor for high-sticking, which led to a tap-in goal for Gabe Vilardi to open the scoring. Then, Nikolaj Ehlers got his night going with a fiery cross-ice pass intended for Mark Schiefele that instead deflected off of the skate of Esa Lindell and beyond Jake Oettinger to stretch the lead to 2-0.

Only 11 minutes of the first period was played at 5-on-5, and Stars head coach Pete DeBoer said during the first intermission that it hampered the Dallas offense from getting in a rhythm early.

It seemed like Winnipeg made adjustments from the first game to Friday's, while Dallas did not. The Jets had to majorly change style from the bruising first round series against the Blues to the more skill-driven style of the Stars. They looked more equipped to handle it in Game 2, and to handle the red-hot Mikko Rantanen as well.

Winnipeg's captain Adam Lowry scored his third goal in the last five games to make it 3-0 in the second period, and Dallas could not mount any sort of comeback before pulling their goaltender in the third. Ehlers converted on his second of the night to seal the win at 4-0.

Dallas had one more chance to break the shutout with a late power play, but Hellebuyck sealed the deal one more time with a great save in tight.

Both teams now have a short turnaround as they must travel to Dallas and prepare for an afternoon game Sunday, with puck drop scheduled at 3:30 CDT.
