The Dallas Stars have added size and experience to their blue line, acquiring veteran defenseman Tyler Myers from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for a 2027 second-round pick and a 2029 fourth-round selection.
Vancouver will retain 50 percent of Myers’ $3 million cap hit through next season, making the deal even more manageable for Dallas.
For Myers, the trade marks a homecoming as the 36-year-old Houston native has spent all 17 seasons of his NHL career outside of Texas and now gets the opportunity to finish his playing days closer to home.
A consistent 20 to 30 point contributor throughout his career, Myers has endured a difficult season in the plus-minus department at minus-25 amid Vancouver’s team struggles. However, he was a combined plus-18 over the previous two campaigns, showcasing his ability to provide steady minutes on a competitive club.

With Vancouver retaining half of his salary, Myers’ cap hit remains affordable through next season, giving general manager Jim Nill flexibility as the organization prepares for key offseason decisions, including negotiations with pending restricted free agent Jason Robertson.
