Jamie Benn was perfect in one category against the Blackhawks on Thursday.

The Dallas Stars defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 3-1 on Thursday and dominated in almost all aspects, but one individual stat line in particular doesn't happen very often.

Stars captain Jamie Benn won all 16 faceoffs he took, making him just the sixth player in the NHL to achieve the feat since the NHL started tracking faceoffs in 1997.

Benn has been excellent in the faceoff circle for the last several years of his career. In both the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons, he finished with over a 60 pecent win rate on the dots. He currently sits at 65.3% through the first 12 games. Benn has played center during his career with the Stars, but has been a mainstay at left wing for a while now.

His versatility allows the Stars to let him take the draw before falling back into his wing position, something very few wingers are talented enough to do. Usually, Benn takes draws on his strong side, the left side of the ice, and allows his center to take the draws on the right. It gives Dallas a strong chance at winning the faceoff every time Benn's line is on the ice.

The Stars as a team follow the captian's lead and are usually at the top of the league in faceoff percentage every season. Last year, they finished second in the NHL, only behind Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
