On Wednesday, the Dallas Stars faced off against a familiar foe, taking on a Minnesota Wild team that eliminated them from the playoffs just months ago.

Once again, the standout performer for Dallas was goaltender Remi Poirier, who turned aside all 24 shots he faced for the shutout. The performance continued a strong preseason for Poirier, who allowed just one goal on 11 shots across two periods of work in Dallas' preseason opener against St. Louis. He remains firmly in the conversation for the backup job behind Casey DeSmith heading into the regular season.
The win extended Dallas' preseason winning streak to five games, carrying over the momentum from a pair of wins to close out last year's exhibition slate and now three straight victories to open this year's schedule. It also pushed the Stars' combined preseason record over the last two years to an impressive 13-2, among the best preseason records in the NHL.
