Dallas aims to cement their elite status, needing just one point Sunday to secure their fifth consecutive playoff spot.

The Dallas Stars have placed themselves firmly among the NHL’s elite this season, and on Sunday night, they have a chance to turn that success into something official. Dallas will face the Vegas Golden Knights with an opportunity to clinch their fifth consecutive playoff berth with a single point in any fashion.

It is a position the Stars have worked toward all season as they sit with a 43-15-11 record for 97 points and remain in a tight race with the Colorado Avalanche for the top spot in the league standings and the Presidents’ Trophy. With 13 games still remaining, surpassing the 100-point mark appears inevitable, a benchmark that would all but guarantee their playoff position.

Even if Dallas falls short against Vegas, there is still another path to clinching as the Stars can also lock in their postseason berth if the Utah Mammoth defeat the Los Angeles Kings later Sunday night. Los Angeles remains one of the teams hovering closest to the playoff cutoff line, and a loss would further solidify the standing of teams currently ahead of them, including Dallas.

For the Stars, however, the focus remains on controlling their own fate. Securing a point against a formidable Golden Knights squad would not only punch their ticket but continue to reinforce their status as one of the league’s top contenders heading into the postseason.
