Youngsters Mavrik Bourque and Logan Stankoven have another chance to impress.
DALLAS - The Stars play their second-to-last preseason game on Thursday night when they host the Blues at American Airlines Center starting at 7:00 p.m. CT.
Veterans Jason Robertson, Tyler Seguin and Miro Heiskanen won’t be in uniform, but prospects Mavrik Bourque and Logan Stankoven get another opportunity to impress head coach Pete DeBoer, general manager Jim Nill, and the rest of the club’s brass.
During his pregame press conference, DeBoer provided several injury updates.
The Stars, who boast a 4-0-1 record in exhibition play, should be tested as the Blues are expected to feature a group that closely resembles their opening-night roster.
DeBoer says valuable coaching information can be compiled from a contest like this.
It’s an opportunity for the bench boss to do some key evaluation, too.
“I think when you’re playing a lineup like that, everything is better - the tape’s better, the teaching moments are better,” explained DeBoer. “We’re going to get exposed more tonight, especially some of the young players in situations, but those are good things for me at this time of year.”
