The NHL franchise tapped industry giant HNTB to anchor a billion-dollar Plano entertainment district, trading downtown Dallas for a futuristic arena hub inspired by world-class sporting venues.
For better or worse, the final two remaining sports teams who play in downtown Dallas both announced earlier this summer that they would each pursue a new stadium, and the Dallas Stars have made an important choice in that plan.

New renderings have been released showing a modern design centering a bustling year-round hub for entertainment and nightlife.
HNTB works with far more than stadium design, but notably has designed modern stadiums like the Las Vegas Raiders Allegiant Stadium. The firm is also working on the MLB stadium in Las Vegas, and has recently completed one of the most anticipated college football stadiums ever built - Northwestern's new Ryan Field. They are also working on redesigning Kansas University's football stadium and entertainment district surrounding what used to be one of the most drab stadiums in the Big 12.
With the Stars apparent clear vision on what they want out of their new arena and surrounding areas, it should be pretty easy for a good design team to give them exactly what they want, and with the recent successes HNTB, the match seems like a good one.
