Matthew Seminoff’s reassignment to the AHL clears roster space for Radek Faksa’s defensive grit or David Perron’s long-awaited debut as Dallas navigates a growing list of veteran injuries.

On Friday, the Dallas Stars sent depth forward Matthew Seminoff down to the AHL's Texas Stars. The move likely indicates Dallas is ready to welcome a forward back into the lineup when it faces the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday.

It could be the return of key penalty killer and depth center Radek Faksa, who has helped the Stars maintain the league's best penalty kill this season, or it could finally mean the season debut of 38-year-old veteran David Perron.

Entering his 20th NHL season, Perron hopes to add depth scoring for the Stars and be a reliable puck hound along the boards, which would make him a meaningful addition to the bottom six. In what could very well be his last NHL season, the Sherbrooke, Quebec native will look to stay healthy after struggling with injuries in recent years, while adding upwards of 30 points.

Dallas also recently sent down Dylan Hryckowian and called up Trey Taylor as the Stars continue to deal with injuries, with depth defenseman Kyle Capobianco joining a long list of players out.

A large and impactful group of everyday players is still out of the lineup, including Esa Lindell and the aforementioned Capobianco on the back end, while up front the Stars are missing Matt Duchene and Oskar Back on long-term injured reserve. Sam Steel recently returned from injury, and Faksa can now hopefully do the same.
