Familiar faces return to the fold as Joel Kiviranta rejoins the veteran core, solidifying a lineup built for one last deep postseason run in Dallas.
On Monday, the Dallas Stars confirmed their opening night roster Monday, settling on a group of 12 forwards, seven defensemen and two goaltenders ahead of Friday's season opener.
There were few surprises up front, with the bulk of the forward group looking as expected. Mikko Rantanen, Jason Robertson, Wyatt Johnston, Roope Hintz, Matt Duchene and recently extended Sam Steel all made the roster, as did veterans Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn, both entering the final years of their current deals in what could be one last run together in Dallas. Last season's breakout performer Justin Hryckowian also stuck, along with Radek Faksa and Oskar Bäck.

On the back end, the Stars made no changes, keeping their group of seven defensemen intact with Miro Heiskanen, Thomas Harley, Esa Lindell, Tyler Myers, Lian Bichsel, Nils Lundkvist and extra defenseman Kyle Capobianco. In net, the tandem also remains unchanged, with Jake Oettinger backed up by Casey DeSmith, who enters the final season of his current contract.
Along with finalizing the roster, Dallas placed five players on the non-roster injured list, most notably prospect Tristan Bertucci, a 2021 second-round pick and one of the organization's more valuable young assets.
He's joined on the list by AHL players Cameron Hughes, Luke Krys and Harrison Scott, along with undrafted free-agent signee Jaxon Fuder.
Dallas opens its 60th season as a franchise Friday at home against the St. Louis Blues.
