Texas bolsters its roster by reuniting with scoring threat Artem Shlaine and adding veteran goaltender Brandon Halverson to solidify the crease for the upcoming campaign.

The Dallas Stars didn't make a major splash Wednesday as free agency kicked off, but did make two AHL transactions to help boost the organizational depth.

Artem Shlaine and Brandon Halverson both signed with the Stars for one season and are expected to play almost exclusively in Texas.

Shlaine had a successful season in Cedar Park last year, posting an even 19 goals and 19 assists. He also added four points in the five playoff games Texas played before getting eliminated. He is only 24 years old, having signed before last season for the Stars.

Meanwhile, Halverson comes in as a number one goalie that played last season in the Tampa Bay Lightning organization. He spent most of his time with the Syracuse Crunch but did appear in two games for the Lightning.

His stats in Syracuse were good, with a 2.42 goals against average and a save percentage of .905 ranking in the top half of the league. In Tampa, he was 1-0-1 but had a 4.22 GAA and .810 save percentage. His best numbers came in the playoffs where he was an unlucky 1-2 with stellar stats. He had a 1.77 GAA and .934 save percentage.

Halverson will help replace Remi Poirier and Ben Kraws, who both went unqualified as restricted free agents.
