Dallas Stars defenceman Matt Dumba is sidelined with upper-body injury

Dallas Stars defenceman Matt Dumba suffered an upper-body injury in Sunday's game versus the Calgary Flames that will keep him out of the lineup in Thursday's matchup versus the Nashville Predators.

He missed practice Wednesday with no timetable given for his injury. The Stars recalled high end prospect Lian Bichsel to make his NHL debut and fill in for Dumba.

This isn't the first time Dumba was out with an upper-body injury as he was sidelined in January of this year with the same issue. It's tough to say if it's the same issue he's dealing with but it very well could be a sign that his age is catching up to him.

At 30 years old, Dumba signed a two-year pact with the Stars this past off-season after spending last season with the Tampa Bay Lightning. He recorded the 11th-most hits in the league at 202, tied with Nashville's Luke Schenn.

During the 2019-20 season, he was awarded the King Clancy Memorial Trophy, for his exceptional leadership skills on and off the ice, while also making significant humanitarian contributions to local communities.

Dumba was drafted 7th overall to the Minnesota Wild in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft and has since played 693 games.
