

To state the obvious, the Detroit Red Wings have just endured a difficult, suffering from injury and suspension amidst a busy schedule in a maelstrom that amounted to three regulation losses. Within that context, it was Thursday's home loss to the Carolina Hurricanes in which Detroit's woes were laid barest in a close game on the scoreboard that felt lopsided.
On the most recent episode of THN Detroit's podcast The Silky Mitten State, my co-host Connor Earegood and I discussed the way Carolina exposed the Red Wings' vulnerabilities through their distinctive brand of aggressive hockey. Of course the absentee list is relevant context to that result, and in some respects, the third game in four nights is a scheduled loss. Connor and I got into the ways Rod Brind'Amour's Hurricanes are uniquely equipped to exploit a team struggling as Detroit was.
