Detroit eyes a road rebound at the Bell Centre as rookie Michael Brandsegg-Nygard gains momentum, while the Canadiens fight to snap a cold streak against their divisional foes.

On Saturday, the Detroit Red Wings will try to bounce back in the second game of their back-to-back after a demoralizing 6-3 loss to the Seattle Kraken on Friday.

It won’t be easy, as they host a Montreal Canadiens team that reached the Eastern Conference Finals last season and is looking to snap a three-game losing streak. Detroit will hope to keep Montreal’s top players quiet, including Juraj Slafkovský, who is coming off a breakout 73-point season but has just one point through four games.

For the Red Wings, sophomore forward Michael Brandsegg-Nygard stood out in the first leg of the back-to-back, scoring his first NHL goal and adding an assist for his first career multi-point game. He now has three points in four games and will look to build on his solid start while continuing to see second-line minutes.

This matchup has produced mixed results with each club splitting exactly three wins each over their last six matchups, although entering Saturday Detroit has won the last two straight over Montreal. Even on the road, the Red Wings have done well versus the Habs, coming away with wins in five of their last seven trips to the Bell Centre.
