Detroit faces a daunting road finale against Connor McDavid’s high-powered offense as both squads fight to rebound from recent losses in this high-stakes cross-conference clash.

On Monday, the Detroit Red Wings look to get back on track as they take on an Edmonton Oilers team seeking a bounce-back performance of its own after suffering a 7-2 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday. Both teams will be eager to respond, with Edmonton having the added advantage of playing on home ice.

Detroit enters the finale of its Pacific road trip having collected three of a possible six points, earning a win over the Vancouver Canucks and a shootout loss to the Seattle Kraken. Meanwhile, despite Saturday’s setback, Edmonton has been one of the league’s hottest teams to open the season, boasting an 8-2-1 record through its first 11 games.

Much of the Oilers’ early success can be attributed to Connor McDavid, who has been off to a historic start with eight goals and 25 assists for 33 points in 11 games, averaging an incredible three points per contest. His supporting cast has been equally impressive, with Leon Draisaitl and Evan Bouchard ranking among the league’s top five scorers with 23 and 21 points, respectively.

While Detroit may not possess the same offensive firepower, the Red Wings have several forwards looking to build on encouraging starts to the season. Alex DeBrincat and Emmitt Finnie have emerged as key contributors, with the top-line duo combining for 10 goals through Detroit’s first 12 games.
