Detroit looks to snap a three-game skid as Alex DeBrincat stays hot. They face a desperate, winless Flyers squad struggling to find offensive rhythm in this cross-conference clash.
On Thursday, the Detroit Red Wings will try to snap a three-game skid after falling in extra time in each of their last two games. The most recent loss came Tuesday in a wild, offense-heavy contest, a 5-4 overtime defeat to the New Jersey Devils.
Detroit will look to finally catch a bounce, but it will have to do so against another desperate opponent, the Philadelphia Flyers. Philadelphia has lost all eight of its games to start the season and is long overdue for a win, just months after making the postseason and winning a playoff series over its in-state rival, the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The slow start has been surprising, as many of the Flyers' difference makers have gone cold. Trevor Zegras leads the team with just three points in eight games, while highly anticipated young forward Porter Martone, who joined the lineup late last season and heated up quickly, has one point through eight games in his first full NHL season.
On Detroit's side, Alex DeBrincat has been sensational, earning a new extension and putting up eight points in six games. The kids have also led the way for the Red Wings, with the second-line duo of Emmitt Finnie and Michael Brandsegg-Nygard combining for four goals through six games while playing mostly together.
