Lucas Raymond Scores OT Winner as Red Wings Beat Flames

Red Wings winger Lucas Raymond lifted Detroit past the Calgary Flames Wednesday night, scoring the overtime winner and extending his personal goal streak to four games

Detroit Red Wings forward scored two goals in the first 18 games of the season.  In his last four games, he has four, the latest the Wednesday night overtime winner to beat the Calgary Flames 2-1 and send the Little Caesars Arena crowd into Thanksgiving in good cheer.  After a snakebitten start, the goals are coming in bunches for Raymond, who has scored in four straight games, three of which were game-winners.

The Red Wings perhaps should have taken care of their guests in regulation, having led for about 50 minutes of regulation.  Alex DeBrincat earned Detroit the lead on the power play at the 6:33 mark of the first, finishing off a smooth feed from Michael Rasmussen at the net front, a position to which Rasmussen was newly promoted.

The Red Wings controlled much of the play that followed, but Calgary chased hard for an equalizer in the third, eventually nabbing with under three minutes to play in regulation, also on the power play.

In overtime, the Flames were nabbed for too many men on the ice (in fact it was two men too many, five skaters instead of overtime's allotted three), and Detroit went to a four-on-three power play.  Raymond retrieved the rebound from a DeBrincat wrist shot that deflected wide, walking the puck from the wall into the slot before firing it past Dan Vladar's blocker side.

With the win, the Red Wings (now 10-10-2) have taken three of their last four and scrapped their way back to .500.  It's not where they'd like to be through 22 games, but after a loss in San Jose concluded a winless trip through California nine days ago, it's a tidy rebound.
