Detroit prospect Nate Danielson scores the tying goal for the Wheat Kings in what would become an OT win in his second game back from the World Junior

2023 Detroit Red Wings first round pick Nate Danielson has returned from a disappointing World Junior for Team Canada and wasted little time in making an impact back home for the Brandon Wheat Kings.

Despite being eliminated in the quarterfinals, Danielson still enjoyed the chance to represent his country overseas.  “It was pretty cool just to wear the maple leaf and be part of the whole experience,” Danielson told the Wheat Kings website. “It went by a lot quicker when you’re actually inside of it than when you’re just watching it at home. It was a lot of fun and I’ve brought a lot of good memories back with me.”

Last night, in his second game since returning from the WJC, Danielson scored the tying goal late in the third period for Brandon en route to a 3-2 overtime over the Victoria Royals.

Today is the WHL's trade deadline day, and Danielson is a candidate to be moved to a team in closer title contention than the fifth-placed Wheat Kings, which is to say last night's game may have been his late with Brandon.  However, despite rumors suggesting he may be on the move, Danielson remains a Wheat King for the time being.
