Detroit's AHL affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins, reveal new logo ahead of 30th anniversary season.
The Detroit Red Wings AHL affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins, are also having a historic season with the franchise as Tuesday, they unveiled their new 30th‑anniversary logo to commemorate the 2025–26 American Hockey League campaign.
This commemorative emblem will be showcased at centre ice in Van Andel Arena and will be featured as a patch on all home and away jerseys, with themed merchandise rolling out this summer in The Zone, the team’s official store.
Beyond celebrating three decades of hockey in Grand Rapids, this season also marks the franchise’s 25th year in the AHL after joining the league in 2001.
The Griffins announced milestone festivities will officially launch on Sunday, September 21, when the Detroit Red Wings return for the annual “Red and White Game,” a tradition concluding Detroit’s training camp. Notably, this will be the first time the Wings have played at Van Andel Arena since 2011.
Looking back at the 2024–25 season, the Griffins showcased a competitive young squad led by some of Detroit's best prospects. Young centre Amadeus Lombardi made an immediate impact in his third season with the Griffins, posting 40 points (19 goals, 21 assists) in just 44 games.

One of Detroit's most exciting prospects is in goal with Sebastian Cossa, who stood out with a 21–15–5 record, a 2.45 goals against average, and a .911 save percentage across a career‑high 41 games and earning selection to the AHL All‑Star Classic.
Cossa also made history by becoming the first NHL goalie to earn a shootout win in his debut when he stepped in for Detroit in early December.
The Griffins concluded the regular season with a 37–29–4 record (80 points), finishing third in the Central Division.
As the Griffins shift into their milestone season, the organization is poised to blend its rich heritage, highlighted by two Calder Cup wins in 2013 and 2017.
With fresh merchandise, commemorative patches, and a slate of celebratory in‑arena activations, it should be one of the best seasons yet to be Griffins fan and first puck drop is just weeks away.
