Raymond, Larkin Set to Face-Off as 4 Nations Round Robin Wraps

On the final day of round robin play at the 4 Nations, Red Wings teammates Lucas Raymond and Dylan Larkin will finally face off

As Lucas Raymond continues to blossom into a star, the idea that the "Yzer-plan" wants for high-end offensive talent loses its luster

Monday, the round robin stage of the inaugural 4 Nations Face-Off will wrap up, with Canada taking on Finland, then Sweden and the U.S. getting together.  For the two Detroit Red Wings at the tournament, that means finally the chance at a little friendly competition, with Lucas Raymond and Dylan Larkin set to square off in the evening's Sweden-USA game.

“I can’t wait to see him,” Larkin told Red Wings team reporter Jonathan Mills, off the chance to take on Raymond. “I haven’t talked to him, which is rare, and I miss him. I can’t wait to play against him. We’ve talked about it a lot leading up to this tournament. With the speed and skill of these games, they’ve been so intense, those guys are going to want to win and try to get into the championship. It’s going to be another big game, and [Raymond] is a big-game player, so we’re going to have to watch out for him. I don’t think I’ll be giving too many of his secrets away. I’ll probably keep those for myself and try to shut him down.”

Both Raymond and Larkin have proven to be essential components to their teams so far.  Raymond leads Sweden in scoring with three points, while Larkin picked up an assist and the game-winning goal in the Americans' win over Canada.

Meanwhile, as far as the tournament's broader picture, here are the clinching scenarios for today:

    (1) Team USA has already secured its spot in the championship game, regardless of result vs. Sweden

    (2) Canada can clinch a place by beating Finland in regulation or if it wins in OT or a shootout AND Sweden does not win in regulation

    (3) That same scenario applies to Finland but flipped: Beat Canada in regulation and Finland is in, or win in OT or a shootout and Finland would be in barring a regulation win by Sweden against the U.S.

    (4) Finally, to advance, Lucas Raymond and Sweden would need to win in regulation, then have the Canada-Finland game go to OT or a shootout.
