On Sunday morning, the Detroit Red Wings announced plans for five games during the team's stretch run to be simulcast on over-the-air television, beginning with Monday night's game against the Ottawa Senators. The Red Wings regular FanDuel Sports Network Detroit broadcast (featuring fan favorites Ken Daniels, Mickey Redmond, and Trevor Thompson) will air on FOX 2 Detroit for those five contests (full schedule below).

It's been something of a fraught season for the local Detroit broadcast, with Diamond Sports Group's bankruptcy seeing the channel re-brand from Bally Sports Detroit to FanDuel Sports Network Detroit after an offseason when it wasn't clear where or how in-market Red Wings fans would be able to watch their team play. For the time being, FanDuel has stepped in to ensure Detroit fans get their customary broadcast, though that future after this season remains in some doubt.
In addition to those five Red Wings games, Ilitch Sports & Entertainment announced that Tigers games would also be simulcast on FOX 2 over the course of the summer.
It remains an uncertain time in the world of regional sports television, but, at the very least, Detroit fans will be treated to a slate of 15 games from their local teams from now through August, without having to subscribe to FanDuel Sports Detroit.
“As the Red Wings make their Stanley Cup playoffs push and with the Tigers season opener fast approaching, we are thrilled to bring select Red Wings and Tigers games to a broader television audience across metro Detroit,” said Ryan Gustafson, President and CEO of Ilitch Sports + Entertainment, in a press release announcing the news. "Our commitment to innovate drives us to explore new opportunities for engaging with fans, particularly in how they consume our broadcasts. We extend our gratitude to our partners at FanDuel Sports Network and FOX 2 Detroit for their collaboration in making this vision a reality."
