    The cavalry is coming.

The Detroit Red Wings have a prospect cupboard overflowing with great players. Many of those great players are currently playing for the Grand Rapids Griffins. Sebastian Cossa, Nate Danielson, Carter Mazur, Shai Buium, and William Wallinder are a few prospects currently being seasoned in the AHL.

But another finds themselves on their way up with the Red Wings.

Earlier this morning, the Red Wings recalled Elmer Soderblom.

Soderblom is an incredibly unique prospect. He has incredible hands, good puck skills, can shoot the puck, and he's a big customer. The 6-foot-8 winger is the tallest player on the Griffins and will now be the tallest on the Red Wings.

In terms of point production, he's behind where the Red Wings would like him to be right now. However, he is on pace to narrowly out-score his 29-point season last year.

In 38 games this season, he has scored 17 points, including four in his last three games. He has also taken 89 shots in addition to several fights and many hits.

One of the biggest areas he needed to improve was his ability to use his big frame more, protect the puck, and maintain possession. He's certainly done more of that this season.

Soderblom hasn't played a game for the Red Wings since the 2022-23 season. He dressed in 21 games that year, averaged 12:04 time on ice, and scored eight points.

Calling him up bodes well for the franchise. Time will tell if he can put a stamp on a regular position within the Red Wings lineup.

    The cavalry is here.
