What goes up must come down.
The Detroit Red Wings may not have made a trade yet this deadline, but that isn’t stopping them from making moves. On Wednesday, they appear to have made several moves.
Firstly, the Red Wings assigned forward Sheldon Dries to the Grand Rapids Griffins late last night after their 2-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes. But they haven’t stopped there.

Elliotte Friedman reported on X that the Red Wings have placed Christian Fischer on waivers. The team has yet to officially announce this move, but it’s safe to assume it is legitimate.
Fischer has played 45 games for the Red Wings this season. He’s been primarily used in a bottom-six role, collecting eight points while playing 11:09 per game.
His ice time has progressively decreased as the season has unfolded. Over the first 21 games, Fischer averaged 11:36. In the following 10 games, it dropped to 11:10. In the last 14, it’s been 10:25.
A few individuals have reported that these moves are preceding a Carter Mazur recall. The team has not officially announced this, so Red Wings fans will need to wait and see.
Either way, Fischer could use a change of scenery to work on his game before he (hopefully) gets called back up to the team.
