Red Wings' Dominik Shine Nets Four Goals For Record-Setting Night With AHL Griffins

On Wednesday night, while the Detroit Red Wings had the night off to prepare for Thursday's game against the Vegas Golden Knights, the organization's AHL club, the Grand Rapids Griffins, took the ice and made history.

Griffins captain Dominik Shine, known for his incredible story from last season, when he joined the Red Wings for 18 games and scored his first NHL goal at 32 years old, is back in Grand Rapids and continues to lead by example.

The Pinckney, Michigan native took charge against the Texas Stars, the Dallas Stars' AHL affiliate, scoring four goals in a 6-2 Griffins victory. The performance set a franchise record for most goals scored in a game and moved him into second place on the Griffins' all-time goals list, passing Francis Pare.

Shine has been sensational this season, with nine goals and six assists for 15 points in 12 games, including nine of those points in the last three games alone. His big night helped Grand Rapids maintain its epic start to the season.

Through 12 games, the Griffins are back atop the league with a 9-1-1-1 record, backed by the league's best offense with 48 goals scored and a top-seven defense that has allowed just 27 goals.

The Griffins return to the ice on Friday when they host the Milwaukee Admirals at Van Andel Arena.
