Detroit Red Wings prospect Max Plante has been named captain of the University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs for the upcoming season.
The Detroit Red Wings are hoping for big things to come in the future for forward Max Plante, whom they selected with the 47th overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft.
So far, Plante has shown every indication that he possesses sky-high potential, and now he's being recognized for his leadership abilities.
Plante, who was an alternate captain for the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs last season, has been named captain for the upcoming campaign along with Ty Hanson.
His brother Zam Plante, a Pittsburgh Penguins draft selection, will be an alternate captain.

It's a true family affair at UMD, as VIctor Plante, whom the Red Wings selected 47th overall earlier this year, will also play for the Bulldogs this season.
Meanwhile, Max will be looking to build off his impressive campaign in 2025-26. With 25 goals and 27 assists in 40 games, he was named the recipient of the Hobey Baker Award, which goes annually to the top NCAA player.
In October, he was named the HCA National Co-Forward of the Month after tallying nine goals and nine assists in as many games.
As if that weren't enough, Plante was also named NCHC Forward of the Year and the NCHC Player of the Year.
If this is any indication as to what he could potentially accomplish with the Red Wings once his NHL career begins, it'll be regarded as one of former GM Steve Yzerman's more savvy Draft selections.
