Olympians Raymond and Seider rejoin the Red Wings as captain Larkin, fresh off gold, prepares to meet President Trump.

After the Olympic break paused the NHL schedule, The Detroit Red Wings are nearly back to business as they prepare to return to action Thursday night when it travels to face the Ottawa Senators.

With practices resuming over the last few days, the team has begun ramping back up to game speed, welcoming several of its Olympians back to the ice as it gears up for the stretch run.

Sweden’s Lucas Raymond and Germany’s Moritz Seider were both back at practice Tuesday after representing their home countries at the 2026 Winter Games. Neither Sweden nor Germany reached the podium, but both players made the most of the experience, remaining overseas to take part in the Olympic festivities and closing ceremonies Sunday before returning to Detroit.

Captain Dylan Larkin has not yet returned to the Motor City, though his presence has certainly been felt. The Michigan native has gone viral in recent days with social media clips showing him celebrating alongside his Team USA teammates after capturing Olympic gold. For Red Wings fans, it has been a welcomed sight to see their longtime captain enjoy a defining moment on the sport’s biggest international stage.

Larkin is also expected to be in attendance at the State of the Union address on Tuesday, where he and the rest of Team USA are slated to meet Donald Trump following their gold medal victory. With those obligations wrapping up, Detroit will get back their captain as confirmed by Red Wings head coach Todd McLellan ahead of their Thursday matchup versus the Senators.
