Despite the best efforts of Detroit Red Wings 2025 first-round draft selection Carter Bear, the Everett Silvertips were bested by the Kitchener Rangers to win the Memorial Cup.

It was a storybook season for the WHL's Everett Silvertips, thanks in large part to the efforts of 2025 Detroit Red Wings draft selection Carter Bear, but in the end, it wasn't meant to be.

Bear and the Silvertips were defeated by the Kitchener Rangers on Sunday evening by a 6-2 final score to win the Memorial Cup.

Bear tallied a goal early in the third period with his club trailing 5-1, giving them a brief sign of life. However, the Rangers ultimately came out on top thanks to goals from Jack Pridham and San O'Reilly, along with tallies from Luke Ellinas, Dylan Edwards, Jared Woolley and Christian Humphreys.

Matias Vanhanen also scored for Everett, who got 26 saves from goaltender Anders Miller.
