DeBrincat and his son Archie began their All-Star journey last night, with his wife Lyndsey back in Detroit with the birth of their second child imminent
Last night, the NHL's All-Star Weekend formally began in Toronto with a red carpet, draft, and a three-on-three PWHL showcase game.
The Detroit Red Wings' representative, Alex DeBrincat, was upstaged by his son Archie, who joined him throughout the festivities.
The elder DeBrincat was selected by the home team at the All-Star draft, joining Team Matthews, headlined by a quartet of Toronto Maple Leafs: Auston Matthews, Morgan Rielly, Mitch Marner, and William Nylander.
DeBrincat's parents joined he and Archie at the festivities in Toronto, but his wife Lyndsey, who is expecting the couple's second child imminently stayed back home in Detroit.
"She's trying to battle through I feel like," DeBrincat said with a smile earlier this week. "Any day now she's gonna give birth, so hopefully we're gonna get through the weekend with nothing unexpected. We'll see how that goes." He added that he does have a contingency plan in place should he need to make an emergency return to Detroit if things progress ahead of schedule.
