Alex Lyon isn't the only goaltender in the Detroit Red Wings organization enjoying an excellent start to the new year.  After a slightly slow start to his '23-24 campaign, Cossa has been excellent in the new year for the Grand Rapids Griffins.

Last night, Cossa made 25 saves on 27 shots then proceeded to stop all three Rockford Ice Hog attempts in the shootout to secure a 3-2 victory for GR at the BMO Center in Rockford.

Cossa has faced 147 shots so far in the new year, and he's stopped 138 of them—good for a .939 save percentage.  For the season, he can now claim a 10-7-3 record, .908 SV% and 2.70 goals against average.

Amadeus Lombardi and Josiah Didier scored for the Griffins in regulation, while Austin Czarnik picked up the lone goal of the shootout to help clinch the victory, which improved the team's record to 20-15-4-1 (good for second in the AHL's Central Division).

Grand Rapids will return to action next weekend, back home at Van Andel Arena for a Friday-Saturday set against the Manitoba Moose.
