McLellan confirms Gibson's injury appears minor, a stinger. The goalie's quick recovery offers relief and a boost to Detroit's playoff push.

The Detroit Red Wings strengthened their playoff position Monday night with an important victory, but the win came with a scare. Starting goaltender John Gibson exited the game with what appeared to be an upper-body injury and did not return, leaving fans concerned about his status moving forward.

Head coach Todd McLellan offered reassurance after the game, explaining he believed Gibson suffered a stinger in the shoulder area. According to McLellan, Gibson was feeling fine afterward and was seen walking around and talking with teammates, a positive sign for Detroit. With little time to prepare, Cam Talbot was thrust into action and responded well, stopping 18 of 19 shots in relief.

Gibson has been a driving force behind Detroit’s surge this season. Since December 2, he leads the league with 19 wins and has posted a dominant 19-5-1 record, along with a 2.08 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage across 26 starts during that stretch.

All indications suggest Gibson should be ready when Detroit returns home for a two-game homestand against the Vegas Golden Knights on Wednesday and the Florida Panthers on Friday.
