Are the Oilers Likely to Lose a Top Goaltending Prospect?
Edmonton Oilers goalie prospect Samuel Jonsson is reportedly expected to return to Sweden rather than play in the organization this season.
The 22-year-old impressed last year with Fort Wayne and appeared ready for an AHL promotion, but Edmonton’s crowded goalie depth chart includes Matt Tomkins, Connor Ungar and Eemil Vinni.
Oilers prospect guru Bruce Curlock believes playing in the SHL would still benefit Jonsson’s development, but questions whether the situation could impact his enthusiasm toward the Oilers organization.
