Former Dynamic Oiler Retires From Hockey

The NHL Alumni Association announced this week that former Edmonton Oilers' forward Linus Omark has officially retired from professional hockey at age 39.

Drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in 2007, Omark showed early promise and debuted in the NHL during the 2010-11 season, recording 27 points in 51 games. He was most known for his dynamic offensive talents, particularly in the shootout.

However, he struggled to secure a consistent role in North America and was later traded to the Buffalo Sabres.

Omark found greater success overseas, particularly in the SHL and KHL, where he built a strong career.

He retires with 79 NHL games and over 600 combined points in European leagues.
