Jordan Oesterle has announced his retirement after 12 professional seasons.
An undrafted product of Western Michigan University, Oesterle signed his first NHL contract with Edmonton in the spring of 2014, getting his first taste of the league with the organization over parts of three seasons before departing as a free agent in 2017.
From there, Oesterle carved out a respectable journeyman career, suiting up for seven teams total, including stints in Chicago, Arizona, Detroit, Calgary, Boston, and Nashville. He finished with 409 NHL games, 23 goals, and 96 points — a solid résumé for a player who was never drafted.
It's a career built on persistence rather than pedigree, and Oilers fans can take some pride in knowing Edmonton was the organization that gave him his first opportunity. Congratulations, Jordan, on a well-earned retirement.
