Paul Coffey will not be on the bench next season. As the Edmonton Oilers introduced Mike Babcock and D.J. Smith to the media, it was confirmed by Bowman that Coffey will not be back next season. 

D.J Smith will run the defense corps, Paul McFarland will remain and oversee the powerplay and Peter Aubry will stay on as the goalie coach.
