The Edmonton Oilers have recalled goaltender Calvin Pickard on an emergency basis, the team announced Friday.

Pickard is expected to be the first of several “Black Aces” recalled from the Bakersfield Condors after being placed on waivers in February and assigned to the AHL. He struggled in the NHL with a 5-6-2 record, .871 SV% and 3.68 GAA, and remained inconsistent in the AHL.

He is unlikely to see playoff action unless emergency depth is needed behind Connor Ingram.

As per Bob Stauffer: " FYI: Connor Ingram and Tristan Jarry are both healthy. The NHL allows for a 3rd goaltender to be recalled under emergency basis to practice with the the team and serve as the emergency goaltender for the Playoffs. Calvin Pickard will serve that role."
