The Edmonton Oilers will need to do a few things differently to win their home opener in a rematch versus the Vancouver Canucks.
The Edmonton Oilers have another day off before they play the Vancouver Canucks on home ice. That's another day of refreshing and going into Saturday's game with the best mindset.
For the Oilers to win that game, a few things will need to go differently. They will need to shrug off the last loss and put in a better collective effort.
Last Loss in the Rearview
The Oilers 8-1 loss was terrible. It is also just one game, and now they are focused on winning the next game. The mentality needs to be the same if they won 6-0. Focus on one game, game is done so move on.
Connor McDavid.Every player knows what went wrong for them, now they need the opportunity of the next game to prove that the blow out was nothing more than a first game blip.
Everyone Needs to Give 100%
One of the biggest things that stood out to head coach Jay Woodcroft was the competitive level of his team on opening night - which was one thing addressed in a team meeting yesterday.
"The meeting that we had with our team today didn't go anywhere near systems, it went to effort" Woodcroft told media yesterday. If everyone on the team raises their effort level, the work of implementing these systems will pay off.
Leon DraisaitlWith the same team that embarrassed them the other night now coming into their building, I'd expect the Oilers to come out flying.
