Here are my biggest takeaways from the Edmonton Oilers 4-3 overtime win over the Seattle Kraken.

Edmonton Oilers will see Mattias Ekholm return to the lineup. Expected to be paired with Evan Bouchard.

Don't look now but the Edmonton Oilers have now won three games in a row - two of those coming against the same team, the Seattle Kraken.

Tonight's 4-3 win was a true team effort. The team's effort in the second period seemed to lull. Once again, the team bent but didn't break. They won on the back of a few timely saves, blocks and goals.

Skinner Getting His Groove On

Stuart Skinner is settling into a real rhythm. His last three games have been spectacular. Only five goals allowed on 87 shots. He improves his record to 4-5-1 on the season. His timely glove save in the third period kept the team from breaking.

With the Oilers heading out on the road tomorrow for a four-game road trip, it's hard not to expect Skinner to play every game. There is at least one day of rest in between each game so why not ride Skinner while he has the hot hand?

Biggest Block of the Game

The Oilers pressed hard at the end of the game for the game tying goal. With the net empty Darnell Nurse blocks a shot that was surely going to be the nail in the coffin for the Oilers.

Kris Knoblauch highlighted that play in his post game comments. "The game would have been over and we don't have the two points if he doesn't make that play."

Nurse finished the game with 25:46 of ice time, one shot, three hits and a team high five blocked shots. He was the Oilers best defensive player.

Raising Kane

Evander Kane scored a hat trick in tonight's game. That pulls his season totals up to seven goals and eight assists for 15 points in 15 games. He has been one of the Oilers most consistent offensive players in this early season.

No matter if it's an ugly win or a pretty win, the two points looks the same in the standings. The Oilers next game is on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
