The Edmonton Oilers earned their second win of the season against the Calgary Flames in the Heritage Classic yesterday. There was a lot of buzz and energy around the team and it paid off in a big way. They got contributions from major players and some key depth pieces - and walked away with a 5-2 win.

Evander Kane was up to his old tricks again last night. He was throwing shots on net to go along with throwing the body. Six shots on goal and six hits are what Kane ended the night with. He also scored an empty net goal in addition to two assists.
Connor McDavid came back in a big way. He only recorded one assist but he was creating chances left, right and center. The top line of McDavid, Leon Draisaitl and Warren Foegele dominated play whenever they were on the ice. Of course the captain was a big part of that domination.
The Oilers goaltending is settling down. Stuart Skinner looked like he was in the zone all game. It was a second incredible start in a row for the netminder - and his second consecutive quality start. Quality starts are games where the goalie has a save percentage higher than the league average
Evan Bouchard, Brett Kulak and Vincent Desharnais all scored goals for the Oilers. Kulak opened the scoring, Bouchard netted a bomb from the power play and Desharnais scored his first career goal.

The Oilers and Flames showed up for the game making a huge fashion statement. The Oilers came as oil riggers and the Flames, like cowboys.
And this is how the Flames channelled their inner cowboy:
