Evander Kane (Perry Nelson-Imagn Images)EDMONTON – Healthy skepticism is a good thing.
Not taking everything at face value should be a cherished virtue.
The Edmonton Oilers are looking to bring it against the Los Angeles Kings in Game 3 at Rogers Arena. If the first period is any indication, it will be a highly entertaining game.

The Oilers got off to a quick lead with two goals in the first half of the opening frame. Darcy Kuemper isn’t unbeatable, and the Oilers have exposed the kink in his armor early on Friday night.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Evan Bouchard both scored their first goals of the playoffs, and Rogers Place was loving it.
Those two aren’t the only players getting engaged in the game. Vasily Podkolzin and Evander Kane have been throwing their bodies around early. Podkolzin has three hits to Kane’s two hits.
I was skeptical about how Kane would perform after not playing a game for 10 months. While he looked good in Game 2, he’s looked even better in Game 3. Kane is going to have to be for the Oilers to string together some wins against the pesky Kings.
One of Kane’s hits was intensely felt by the player on the receiving end, Brandt Clarke. If this is the version of Kane that the Oilers are getting this offseason, he’s going to be an important player for the team during this playoff run.
