Connor McDavid can hit another milestone while playing in his 600th career NHL game vs the Los Angeles Kings.
The Edmonton Oilers will play their first game against the Los Angeles Kings of the 2023-24 season tonight. It will be the second last game the Oilers play in the 2023 calendar year.
Connor McDavid. There were a few roster moves announced earlier today. One was Ben Gleason being sent down. Simultaneously, Raphael Lavoie was recalled under emergency conditions.
But tonight's game is a big deal for a different reason. Tonight Connor McDavid will play in his 600th career NHL game.
Connor McDavid. That is quite an accomplishment, full stop. The average hockey playing career is 4.5 years - which roughly equals 369 games (if the player plays in every single game during that time). To play nearly twice that should be celebrated.
What's most impressive about this is that McDavid could reach another milestone on top of that. He currently sits at 895 points in his career.
He only needs five points to reach 900 career points.
Connor McDavid. If he did this he would be the fifth fastest player to do so. Only Wayne Gretzky (385), Mario Lemieux (463), Mike Bossy (582), and Peter Stastny (599) have reached the milestone in less games.
McDavid is one of the best players to ever play in the NHL. He is in a league of his own and this could just be another record that he breaks.
