The Edmonton Oilers defeated the Seattle Kraken in last night's game, and gave their coach more runway.

Edmonton Oilers will see Mattias Ekholm return to the lineup. Expected to be paired with Evan Bouchard.

The Edmonton Oilers break a four game losing streak by defeating the Seattle Kraken 4-1. It was a spirited game that saw a fight, a natural hat trick, and a team show up to play for a full 60 minutes.

Zach Hyman led the charge offensively by scoring the team's first three goals of the first period - two at even strength and one on the power play. This was the second hat trick of Hyman's career.

Dylan Holloway had a monster game for the Oilers. In addition to scoring his first goal this season, he answered the bell by fighting Vince Dunn. He was all over the ice and scored his goal where all of Hyman's goals were scored - the goaltender's crease.

Not only did the Oilers win last night, they also saved Jay Woodcroft's job. While we will never know what could have been, a few insiders (like Ryan Rishaug) were saying that if heads were going to roll it was going to be after this road trip.

Winning this game is great, but the Oilers have to back it up with another great game tomorrow night against the New York Islanders back at home.

They may have won the battle last night, but tomorrow they can start to win the war for a playoff spot.
