The NHL is turning the Heritage Classic into a huge event, sponsors adding very cool prizes and experiences at the event.
The NHL is hosting a festival for hockey fans in a free event in ICE District leading up to the Heritage Classic. The Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames outdoor game will be preceded by two days worth of activities, giveaways and more.
The two day event will run Friday October 27th and 28th. It will be open from 3pm to 9pm mountain time on Friday and 12pm to 6pm on Saturday the 28th.
Dubbed the WestJet NHL Fan Park, this festival will include over a dozen sponsors with cool prizes and experiences for fans to participate in. I've looked through the details and here are the three coolest things I think will be there.
How fast is your slapshot?
Kal-Tire will be on site, ready to see if any fan has a shot made for the NHL. In Kal's NHL Garage you get to wind up and let your slapshot rip. Just think of it as a gun range, but with hockey sticks.
Beer Tasting
Molson will also be at the WestJet Fan Park providing a cool way to experience their product. Participate in a blind tasting of Molson's collection of beer, to decide which one is actually your favorite.
Coolest Air Hockey Table Ever
Canadian Tire will be presenting the "Chill Zone". The Chill Zone will have an air hockey table completely made of ice. Talk about the coolest air hockey table ever!
