The last away pre-season game for the Edmonton Oilers is tonight. They will play against the Seattle Kraken in what should be an entertaining game.
Vincent Desharnais & Dylan Holloway celebrate a pre-season goal.Part of that is due to the many former teammates scheduled to play versus the Oilers. Let's take a look at the five players.
Devin Shore was a major depth piece for the Oilers during his three year stint with the team. He'll be looking to fill a similar role on his new team.
Devin ShoreJustin Schultz was heralded for his offensive acumen and ridiculed for his defensive mishaps. He signed a two-year ELC with the Oilers prior to the start of the 2012-13 season. Despite his offensive gifts he has only registered more than 30 points in a season four times in his 11-year career. He's struggled to stay healthy - with 81 games being the most he's played in an entire season. His best offensive year came the season after he was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins. He would score 51 points in 78 games that year.
Jordan Eberle was the 22nd overall draft pick for the Oilers in the 2008 entry draft. He has largely been a consistent 20+ goal scorer in the NHL for eight of his 13 NHL seasons. Eberle was another player praised for his offensive game and over-criticized for his defensive play.
Former Edmonton Oiler, Jordan Eberle. The unfortunate reality for Adam Larsson, is that in most Oilers' fan's eyes he will forever be known as the player who was acquired for Taylor Hall. He wasn't ever meant to be an offensive force, but rather the kind of rugged defense-first player the Oilers could use right now. He defends the net with ferocity and relentless cross checks & slashes. He's found a role on the Kraken's top pair - just like he did with Oscar Klefbom and the Oilers.
Adam Larsson.Kailer Yamamoto had quite the off-season. First he was traded to the Detroit Red Wings, alongside Klim Kostin. He was then put on waivers and bought out by the Red Wings. From there he found himself signing a one-year $1.5-million cap hit contract with the Kraken. Things didn't end the way either party wanted them to, so look for Yamamoto to be extra motivated against his old team tonight.
