Despite the obvious holes in the lineup, some insiders postulated on X (Twitter) that the Oilers could use an experienced veteran forward with toughness, Stanley Cup experience and a strong locker room presence.
Corey Perry.Corey Perry of the Chicago Blackhawks ticks off every one of these boxes. He was also a healthy scratch last game for the vague "organizational reasons" designation. During Blackhawks practice yesterday he was also absent.
Could acquiring Perry give the Oilers the jolt they need? It's possible that anything could help, and there are many things they haven't tried yet.
They have already fired one coach so I suspect they don't fire Kris Knoblauch. Would the boost they receive from bringing in a guy like Perry suddenly fix the defense and goaltending?
