There is already a name rumored to be in consideration for the Ottawa Senators General Manager position.
The Edmonton Oilers Ken Holland is in the last year of his contract with the organization. Only one of the four seasons before this one did the Oilers not make the playoffs.
Mattias Ekholm.Say what you will about some of the deals he has made - not all have been of the Mattias Ekholm variety - he has delivered on the result of the team making the playoffs.
His predecessor was less successful. Especially when it came to trades. His most famous trade being sending out Taylor Hall for Adam Larsson. Of course the general manager I'm speaking of is Peter Chiarelli.
Even after putting two teams into a precarious salary cap situation, Chiarelli might get another crack at running a team.
This isn't the first time he's been connected to the Ottawa Senators. Usually where there is smoke there is fire, but time will tell. Steve Staios may opt to pull double duty as President of Hockey Operations and General Manager.
