The Edmonton Oilers have an opportunity to extend their winning streak to a team record nine games tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning. This will be the second and final meeting between the two teams this season.

The first match-up was a high scoring 6-4 loss for the Oilers. It was a milestone game for depth center James Hamblin, as he scored his first NHL goal in the contest.
The game plan for the Oilers is simply to not think about the first game between these two teams. The focus for both teams will be to play well tonight and put to rest any distractions.
A lot has happened for the Oilers since they lost to the Lightning on November 18th. They lost two more games immediately after - against the Florida Panthers and Carolina Hurricanes.

Then on November 24th the Oilers shut out the Washington Capitals 5-0, commencing their current winning streak.
There are some staggering stats surrounding this win streak. They are averaging 4.75 goals for (1st in NHL) and 1.63 goals against (1st). Their power play is first in the league, converting on 44% of their opportunities. They are killing 96.2% of the penalties they have received, which ranks second in the NHL over this eight-game stretch.
It would be incredibly poetic if Connor Brown were to score his first goal of the season in the same game that the Oilers tie their record for longest winning streak in franchise history.
Game time is at 7 PM Mountain Time.
