The Edmonton Oilers have gone through a few head coaches in the past decade. One of the most infamous hirings (and firings) began 10 years ago.
Dallas Eakins.Dallas Eakins was brought in to coach the Oilers in the summer of 2013. He had spent the four years previous coaching the AHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs - the Toronto Marlies.
Unfortunately, he only lasted 18 months in the position - and was let go in December of 2014.
Today comes some exciting news for Eakins.
Eakins will take over as head coach and general manager of Adler Mannheim of the DEL (Deutsche Eishockey Liga) - the professional hockey league in Germany. Eakins was most recently the head coach of the Anaheim Ducks.
