The Edmonton Oilers made another cut to the roster today. After putting Drake Caggulia through waivers yesterday - as well as assigning or loaning 14 players to the Bakersfield Condors.

Brandon Sutter has been released from his professional tryout contract with the Oilers, according to a press release on Sunday October 1st. The 13-year veteran was originally drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes in 2007. He also spent time with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Vancouver Canucks organizations.

Not only was released from his PTO, he also announced his retirement from hockey. "You need to be 100% healthy to compete in the NHL and although my health continues to improve, in consideration of my health and family, I am officially retiring from hockey."
