On the heels of Adam Johnson's tragic death, an NHL player just suffered a skate-related injury.

The Edmonton Oilers will be harder on themselves than the media and fans are on them.

If you stop and think about it, the game of ice hockey seems a bit dangerous. A dozen grown men put boots with sharp metal blades on the bottom of them - and proceed to spend an hour using long sticks to whack a rubber object into a net.

It's no surprise that players can suffer any variety of injuries along the way. Some are unlucky situations, some are freak accidents, and some are malicious.

The Edmonton Oilers are no stranger to this. Almost one year ago Evander Kane suffered a cut wrist that limited him to just 41 games played.

Current Seattle Kraken forward (and former Oiler) Jordan Eberle just suffered a skate injury of his own. Geoff Baker of The Seattle Times reports that Eberle suffered a "deep cut" near his quad muscle.

Eberle was scheduled to receive an MRI to ensure a tendon wasn't cut. Obviously, you hope the injury is as minor as possible.

The Oilers are scheduled to play the Kraken on Saturday at 8pm Mountain Time.
