The Edmonton Oilers announced an addition to their AHL team earlier today.

The Edmonton Oilers will be harder on themselves than the media and fans are on them.

The last of the remaining PTO's that the Edmonton Oilers had from training camp has been signed.

Sam Gagner has signed an AHL contract with the Bakersfield Condors. Coming off of hip surgery this past summer was daunting to Gagner - but now he'll get some games in before earning any NHL minutes.

This move is smart for both the player and the team. The team needs to make sure he is healthy enough to play, and Gagner needs to make sure he can keep up with the speed of the game.

Either way is a win for the two sides. In light of the Connor McDavid injury, the Oilers could use all the healthy bodies they can get.
